A PENSIONER who fell at her home suffered a blood clot on her brain that went undetected for a few days.
At an inquest in Burnley, acting East Lancashire coroner Richard Taylor was told Mrs Emily Stanworth, 79, of Crow Wood Avenue, Burnley, fell at her home on June 28.
When her GP, Dr Charles Donald, was called on June 30 he said she complained of being unable to get out of bed. With her husband Alan's help she walked to the living room, but her condition deteriorated that day and she was admitted to Burnley General Hospital and transferred to Royal Preston Hospital for neuro surgery. She died on July 5.
Pathologist Dr W D Salman gave the cause of death as a large blood clot on her brain which was caused as a result of the fall at her home.
She had previously been prescribed Warfarin to help reduce the risk of blood clots and anti-depressants. The coroner recorded a verdict of accidental death.
