AN investigation has been launched into the death of a 39-year-old patient who died while detained at Calderstones Hospital in Whalley.
An inquest has been opened into the death of Marcus James Wing on October 24. He was subject to a restriction order under the Mental Health Act.
Assistant deputy coroner Andrew Rebello said Mr Wing's treatment regime consisted of an anti-psychotic medication using a drug which requires blood tests to be taken periodically to monitor levels.
Consultant forensic pathologist Dr Charles Wilson has carried out a post-mortem examination. He is withholding the medical cause of death pending the results of toxicological tests and further investigation.
The inquest was adjourned until December 4.
Insp Bob Ford, of Clitheroe Police, said they had attended the hospital after the incident but were not treating the death as suspicious.
Nobody from Calderstones was available to comment.
