AS a resident of Sycamore Road, Tottington, I am increasingly worried and concerned about the proposed new development of 30 houses by Walshaw Estates on land off Sycamore Road.
I am horrified to learn that, to allow access to the development, it may be necessary to "bulldoze" a popular children's play area. I am also most concerned to note that the decision is to be made without any public consultation and behind closed doors by Bury Council.
I must protest at this flagrant abuse of our rights. I thought we lived in a democracy!
As a mother with a young child, I often use this park. There is already a problem with children hanging around the streets and getting into trouble in Tottington and Walshaw and removing another play area will certainly not help the long-term situation.
With increasing housing development in Tottington, I feel that the area's infrastructure is reaching its limits. More cars and more traffic must eventually lead to more accidents. Does anyone care?
