AS Remembrance Day approaches, I wish to voice my personal support for this year's Poppy Appeal and to urge your readers to contribute as generously as always to this most worthy cause.
This year is the 80th anniversary of the Royal British Legion, during which time the Poppy Appeal has helped to find the Legion's work to deliver a caring service for the benefit of the ex-service community who have needed assistance since 1921. More people are approaching the legion for help than ever before and the need for public support is as great as ever.
County Councillor Mrs Dorothy Westwell, Chairman, Lancashire County Council, County Hall, Preston.
