TWO attic bedrooms were destroyed in a suspected arson attack on a house.
The fire also got into the roof of the four-storey building in Colne Road.
The property next door, which contains a number of flats, had to be evacuated as firefighters tackled the blaze.
Fire crews were called to 1, Colne Road, a former house of multi-occupancy which is now empty, shortly before 9.30pm last night.
They found a fire in the attack and roof. Sub officer Gary Hargreaves said: "We managed to stop it spreading but the two attic rooms were destroyed and damage was caused to eight square metres of roof."
Fire crews were at the scene for two and a half hours.
Mr Hargreaves added: "The fire was of suspicious origin." The incident is now under investigation.
