THE makers of Monopoly are hoping to 'get out of jail' with the Preston public after including the Museum of Lancashire on the latest board.
Last year Winning Moves International was criticised for not including enough of the town on the inaugural Lancashire version.
After asking around, researchers decided to pull the museum, at Stanley Street, Preston, out of the community chest and onto a £180 plot in the orange section.
Now Preston has three representations on the board -- the two others being Deepdale Stadium and the Harris Museum and Art Gallery.
Staff at the county museum are delighted we the inclusion. "We think this will be very good publicity for the museum by making people more aware that we are here," said Anthea Dennet, the museum's assistant social history curator. "We are the museum for Lancashire so we feel we are an important part of the county."
A Winning Moves International spokesperson said: "The museum is steeped in all the great history and traditions of Lancashire and we feel they are the perfect partner for our Lancashire board.
"Soundings were taken from the Lancashire public and the new regional version of Monopoly reflects the hearts and minds of the great Preston public."
Winning Moves has a licence from Monopoly owners Hasbro to produce regional variations of the game. Leyland's representation from last year, the British Commercial Motor Museum, has been retained.
