Leyland Warriors U8s 20 Latchford 24
THREE great tries from Man of the Match Harvey May. New player Danny Bond got his first try. Matthew Vincent scored a great try from a halfway break set up by Danny McLean. New player Ben Burns was awarded top tackler with Most Improved Player going to Jack Dee.
St Cuthbert's U11s 28 Leyland Warriors 44
THE Warriors returned to winning ways with a nine try demolition of St Cuthberts. They were soon in control and Andrew Day's first ever try sent Warriors into 20-12 half-time lead. Chris How and Danny Singleton ran riot in the second half and the Warriors raced ahead. Man of the Match was Chris How with five tries. Danny Singleton was top tackler and Stuart MacLean was most improved player.
Leyland Warriors U12s 0 St Cuthbert's 30
POOR ball control and a shortage of players made life difficult for Leyland to get into their game against Wigan St Cuthberts who played to their game plan with the ball moving out to the wings. Leyland Man of the Match Ryan Johnstone became a target for the opposition after strong driving runs through their defence in the first half. Calam Ogden playing in his first game showed excellent effort in his defence to gain the top tackler award.
Ashton Bears U14s 16 Leyland Warriors 36
LEYLAND coped best with the breezy conditions and although not playing at full throttle were still far too powerful for their opponents who had no answers to Leyland's strong forward running and quick passing out to the wings. Leading 20-10 at half time, the visitors kept Ashton down to just one converted try in the second period while scoring a further 16 points themselves. Had the wind not played havoc with the Leyland conversions, the margin of victory could have been considerably higher. The match also saw debuts for Scott Meadows and Stephen Smith who both turned creditable performances.
Roose Pioneers U18s 10 Leyland Warriors 24
WARRIORS played away in Barrow and started well running in two tries from winger Chris Banks through superb build-up play from the team. Warriors team spirit helped to absorb all that Roose could throw at them and bad further tries from Anthony Hughes and Michael Prescott. Top tackler was Sam Harrison.
Leyland Warriors U15s Girls 18 Pendle & Keighley 32
DESPITE the dam condition both teams played some good creative rugby. Pendle & Keighley scored first and threatened to run away with the game until the Warriors strengthened their defence and responded with tries of their own. Top tackler Fran Cooper played an excellent game at full back. Kirsty Marshall finished with a hat trick of tries to earn her the player of the match award.
