PRESTON North End striker David Healy is heading a clean goal aiming to tidy up Preston and kick out the rubbish left by football fans.
The Northern Ireland international, who scored a hat-trick at Saturday's match against Stockport County, is expected to team up with the Tidy Britain Group (TBG), which is launching a billboard advertising campaign to encourage people to throw their rubbish away.
David, who has just recovered from a neck injury, will be seen kicking rubbish into a bin to drive the message home.
Peter Gibson, spokesman for TBG, said: "We are in the planning stage of the campaign. Teenagers are the worst culprits and footballers are role models. If David Healy tells kids to use a bin, then there is more chance they will.
"We are very encouraged by the fact that Preston is getting involved in our campaign and I am sure that Preston will benefit from it. Football fans seem to forget that when they are at matches they are guests in that neighbourhood and often litter is found in people's gardens near to the grounds.
"They should think about the residents in that area and the fact that they give football a bad name."
A spokesman for PNE said: "The club supports everything that can be done to make the match day experience as enjoyable for fans as possible.
"Part of that is making sure not only inside the stadium, but also the surrounding area is kept litter free.
