FIVE TIMES British Minimoto Sidecar Champions - that's the proud boast of high-flying Spike and Judi Priestley.
It's been quite a season for Prestwich husband and wife team who have clinched the title in the first ever running of the event.
The 2002 season saw the sidecar class progress and a new class was formed (F1).
This section is for minimoto sidecars with standard 80cc motor cross engines with a recommended BHP limit of 26BHP.
Although the Priestleys did not have the funds to buy another outfit, they decided to enter the class, as well as the F2 class (tuned 80cc road-derived engines with a recommended BHP limit of 15BHP) with their underpowered - for the F1 class - Honda MBX 80 motor.
After eight tough rounds raced at various venues around Britain, there came a battle royale in their final race at Kinsham in Powys, Wales.
The Priestley's rose to the occasion and came in second to secure the very first F1 sidecar championship title and a fantastic British double.
Spike, a 35-year-old HGV Class 1 driver for Securicor and Judi, also 35, and a mobile hairdresser,012874 are on the lookout for sponsorship so they can pick up a crosser engine that will enable them to compete in F1 class on a level playing field next year. Phone Spike or Judi on 766 2919.
