PARTNERS in life and crime, Alan West and Andrea Poynton were jailed for 60 days by Blackburn magistrates for shoplifting.
And a different bench later rejected a plea for bail for mother of four Poynton, who has lodged an appeal against sentence.
Defence solicitor Paul Schofield said his client had made no arrangements for the care of her children, two of whom lived at home.
"She is very concerned about their welfare," said Mr Schofield.
Earlier West, 35, and Poynton, 33, both of Heatley Close, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to stealing four track suit bottoms from Sports Soccer.
The court heard that West was on bail at the time of the offence and Poynton had been put on probation for a similar offence just one week earlier.
