I THINK it is a good idea to honour Jimmy Clitheroe with a plaque in his home town, Clitheroe (LET, November 3).
I was a great fan of his and used to love listening to his radio show.
This part of Lancashire has produced its fair share of comedians and when you consider the pleasure they have given us all, I think it appropriate to have a lasting memorial to them.
We, in Oswaldtwistle, had one of the finest comedians in England, but sadly he died at the very early age of 34 years in 1969 and after all these years there aren't many people in this area who haven't heard of him.
His name? Bernard Perkins.
I would love to see a plaque in his memory in Oswaldtwistle where he was born.
WINNIE McKENNA, Trinity Street, Oswaldtwistle.
