POLICE have renewed an appeal for witnesses to a road accident in Clitheroe which left a cyclist with serious head injuries.
William Lakin, 54, of Whitewell Drive, was injured in the accident, which happened on New Lane, Clitheroe at 3.20pm on Friday.
He was dragged along the road for some distance when his bike was in collision with van at the junction with Chipping Road and suffered serious head and abdominal injuries.
Mr Lakin was taken to Blackburn Infirmary for emergency surgery before being transferred to Hope Hospital, Salford, where his condition was today described as critical but stable.
Police say the white van and the cyclist were travelling in opposite directions.
The driver of the van, Steven Cowgill, 39, of Kirkmoor Road, was shaken after the accident and will be interviewed by police.
