POMPEY'S Japanese keeper, Yoshi Kawaguchi, said: "Football in England is very fast, aggressive and strong. There is always a very quick tempo and a lot of heart but it was very cold.
"My dream has always been to play football in England, ever since I was a child.
"One point means a lot to this club, especially as it was an away game.
"I hope that Japan can make it to the last eight in the World Cup and I hope that I can play against England."
Clarets boss Stan Ternent said: "We scored another good goal, it was a great ball in from Cook and a very good header from Gareth.
"It took a while to break them down but I thought we played particularly well. If we can keep that level of performance we will be okay.
"Nik made three great saves but I expect my keeper to have to make saves.
"We were not playing a team of no-hopers. Portsmouth are a side that is up there with us."
Pompey manager Graham Rix was pleased, he said: "That was a great result for us, it was a resilient performance from everyone, especially from the two lads up front who worked their socks off.
"Peter Crouch is a quality player and produced a cool finish after getting a great through ball from Dave Waterman.
"Our defence did well because Moore and Taylor are always a handful and despite all their pressure I can't remember Yoshi having to make many saves," said Graham Rix.
"I am absolutely delighted with the spirit and the determination that we showed and I would have gladly settled for a point before the game.
They are a good side that is right up there and I think Burnley will still be up there by the end of the season."
