DARWEN Football Club has announced its bonfire night celebrations were an outstanding success and there are already plans to hold another event next year.
Club Chairman Kath Marah said: "We had the biggest crowd on our Anchor Ground than we've had for a number of years. We estimate over 2,000 people came along.
"The club would like to thank all those who gave wood -- in fact we had so many offers of help we could not contact all of them before the event.
"This showed how the club and community can work together to the benefit of both."
She added the club was planning to hold the event again next year and to hold more events at its Anchor Ground.
She said: "It has certainly raised the profile with the local community and we hope to see some of our bonfire night visitors at some of our football matches.
"The club is now the home for a wide variety of teams, as well as our first team which plays in the North West Counties League we also have a very successful women's team and a number of youth teams.
"All sections of the club joined together to make the bonfire night a success."
