MR J Fielding (Letters, October 25) asks how can paying a TV newsreader £500,000 a year be justified.
The answer is simple -- by doing so, the employer can justify his/her £600,000 and if you can 'load the bases' with two newsreaders you can claim "market rate" of £700,000.
Wonderfully simple, isn't it, Mr Fielding? -- and totally obscene.
Who authorises this £700,000? Why, it's the person getting £800,000 and so on.
D PRATT (Mr), Plantation Street, Accrington.
