HOSPITAL chiefs are to put up their barricades to stop the defunct Bury General from being a haven for vandals.
The move follows a spate of reports from concerned residents who live next door to the Walmersley Road hospital.
In recent weeks, youngsters have broken into the boarded up building and trashed wards.
The number of security guards protecting the building has been increased.
Now, Bury Health Care NHS Trust bosses are seeking planning permission to erect a temporary security fence around the perimeter of the site.
The application will be discussed this Thursday (Nov 15) at the next sitting of Bury Council's planning control sub-committee.
