LEIGH RMI have a number of injury worries ahead of tonight's clash with Chorley in the Lancashire Cup first round.
Andy Farrell joins long-term injuries Dave Ridings and Jamie Udall on the sidelines while both Lee Fitzpatrick and Tony Black picked up injuries in Saturday's clash with Dover Athletic and look set to miss out against Unibond First Division opposition.
Leigh made the semi-finals of the competition two years ago when they were eliminated at Hilton Park 4-2 by the eventual champions Marine.
Last year they failed to make an impact when they were ousted in a quarter-final replay by Unibond side Lancaster City.
This year's scenario is much different with the current financial climate overshadowing events at Hilton Park, yet assistant managerDave Miller knows that it will be hard to overcome Chorley,
"We will obviously be looking to win every game that we play but because of the injuries we picked up against Dover, there will be the chance for a couple of the fringe players to come into the side and show what they can do. They have the incentive of staking a claim for our next league match against Boston United."
"When you are playing against lower league opposition, you always raise your game so we know that Chorley will make us work hard, but a win away from home would boost our confidence greatly." A run in any knockout competition takes on great significance for the Railwaymen, who have already bowed out of both the FA Cup and LDV Vans Trophy, but they are certain to be up against a team with a number of ex-Railwaymen in the starting line-up.
Strikers David Eatock and Andy Mason have both been regulars up front at Victory Park while Peter Smyth, Mick Wallace and Mark Schofield could also figure in the game, which is a 7:45pm kick-off.
