ROVERS boss Graeme Souness will decide whether or not to up his bid for Stockport striker Shefki Kuqi at a board meeting today.
Souness has targeted the Finnish international as a player who could beef up his attacking options.
But County chief Brendan Elwood has so far resisted Rovers advances after rejecting an intial bid of £500,000.
Now Souness must decide whether to up the ante or look elsewhere.
"We've got a valuation of the player and we will be discussing it at a board meeting today with Graeme to see where he wants to go from here," said chief executive John Williams.
Although, Elwood insists the Albanian-born forward will not be allowed to leave Edgeley Park on the cheap, he is clearly available at the right price after new boss Carlton Palmer left him out of his plans at the weekend in case he got injured.
But Rovers are likely to have to raise their offer to at least £750,000 for the 24-year-old with County trying to hold out for a fee closer to £1 million.
Souness's priority, though, remains a left-back with West Brom defender Neil Clement top of his list.
Albion are steadfastly refusing to sell their star man, however, despite the fact Arsenal are now reported to have joined his list of admirers.
Rovers reserves are in action against Sunderland at Morecambe's Christie Park tonight (kick off 7pm).
