ARTHUR Gnohere's growing fan club at Turf Moor has another new member - his defensive partner Ian Cox.

Gnohere has played alongside Cox in the last two games and is set to feature again tonight when Watford are the visitors and his senior colleague can't wait to see him in action again.

"When Arthur goes marauding down the left it is a joy to watch," admitted Cox. "He has so much potential it is very frightening.

"He has all the attributes to go on and do very well. He is very composed, he is young, he is big and strong and he has got a great left foot.

"His English is also getting better and there are no communication problems."

With all that going for him, Cox is not surprised that the fans have taken to the Frenchman so quickly.

And he is not too worried about minding the shop at the back when Gnohere disappears up the field.

"We are a team and if a player gets out of position it is a case of getting someone else to fill in." he said.

But despite Gnohere's impact, Cox explained that the side still misses skipper Steve Davis when he is out injured, as he was for the games against Sheffield United and Portsmouth.

Davis is again a doubt for tonight's clash and while Cox is more than confident in Gnohere's abilities he admitted: "We do miss Steve. He is our leader and he does have a big influence both on and off the pitch.

"We have to get on with things without him. We have got a great squad here but he is a massive loss."

With or without Davis, Cox knows that the target for the team tonight is to get the three points that will take the Clarets back up to second in the first division.

"We were all disappointed that we did not hold on to our lead, we went in front but they were level three minutes later," he said.

"But generally all the boys thought we played well and we just have to get our heads down and keep grafting."

"Getting a win is the bottom line. If we have a go and attack with the same positive attitude as at the start of the season we won't be too far off."

Cox knows that Watford possess plenty of players that can cause problems for the Clarets.

"Tommy Smith and Heidar Helguson pose a threat and we will have to be committed," he said. "I am very surprised that they are not further up the table but if you look at the names they have got on the team sheet, you still expect them to be up there challenging.

"They have got a big name manager who has played in World Cups and won European Cups but I'm sure he would prefer to be up there at the end of the season.

"The most important thing for us is to go out there and show the right sort of application and get three points, that is our aim."

It has been suggested that the large turnover in playing staff under Gianluca Vialli has left the club struggling to get the right team spirit for an assault on promotion.

"I don't know what the situation is down there but I do know about here," said Cox. "They have brought a lot of players in and it takes time to settle down.

"At Burnley when the chips are down everybody pulls together. We have boys who will give everything for the cause."

That cause tonight is a win and the chance to go second in the table and a return of seven points from three home games would represent a satisfactory return for the side.
