TRADERS in Waterfoot have stepped up their calls for a town sign by starting a petition.
Greengrocer Steve Taylor, whose shop is in Bacup Road, said: "We already have 200 names on the petition.
"Every trader in the town has signed it and so have many residents and customers."
The town feels it is being neglected because other villages have signs, like Weir, Stacksteads and Water.
Waterfoot has a thriving town centre with lots of shops, offices and businesses but it has no street sign to announce to visitors where they are.
Once enough people have signed the petition, Mr Taylor will be sending it to Rossendale Council to try to persuade councillors to pay for a sign.
He is backed by former Mayor Coun David Hancock who pledged to try to get the town a sign when he was the borough's first citizen.
