The man whose burned body was found on moorland at the weekend has been identified as 31-year-old Shazad Fayyaz, from Bolton.
Two people, also from Bolton, were detained yesterday following the grim discovery. The 36-year-old man and 33-year-old woman were today due to be questioned by detectives today.
Mr Fayyaz's body was found between Chorley Old Road and Rivington Pike by two teenage cyclists on Sunday.
A post mortem examination has established that Mr Fayyaz, of Rishworth Lane, died from severe head injuries and a murder-style inquiry has been launched.
Detectives say they are investigating the possibility that the injuries were inflicted elsewhere and the body taken to the scene and dumped.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the hours leading up to the discovery of the body at about 10.20am to call them on 0161 8725050.
