HOPEFULLY, that's the end of the fireworks after four days of heavy bombardment. I only hope we don't have a repeat of this for the New Year!
What used to be a very special night on November 5, with community bonfires or small family bonfires, has turned into a nightmare for the elderly and for pets. As one reader suggested, fireworks should not be sold before November 1 and not after November 5.
Surely, it is time now to review the firework situation and make all traders act responsibly. Each year, the situation seems to go worse. Please can something not be done to halt this horrendous situation? In Europe they have public firework displays and fireworks are banned. Can't we follow their example?
