TYLDESLEY RU came up against a well drilled Rossendale side who ran out 22-12 winners at St.George's Park on Saturday.

Despite having the ball in the early stages Tyldesley could not make any real headway and the visitors moved the ball up the field to score a try.

The Rossendale pack began to dominate the set pieces and this domination led to another score before the break. The visitors had the game won with another try early in the second half but Tyldesley showed good spirit to come back with a try from Mark Dickinson and another try from leading try scorer Gary Corbett who showed his pace again to outstrip several Rossendale defenders to touch the ball down.

Next Saturday sees the official opening of St.George's Park by the President of Lancashire County RFU Bill Chappell with the Mayor of Wigan Councillor John Hilton also in attendance. Afterwards Tyldesley meet Oldham kick off at 2.30pm.

Tyldesley Knights travelled to Rossendale and were beaten 9-0 in the mud thanks to some strange refereeing decisions. Good performers on the day where Tom Cartwright and Liam Mountford.

Tyldesley Dragons entertained Leigh Tofts and in a see-saw game the visitors stole the honours with a 14-5 win. Good performers on the day for Tyldesley where newcomers Bill Elliott and Andy Hellam with old stager Fred Jones grabbing a try.

Tyldesley Colts went down 48-15 against Calder Vale after taking a early lead some poor tackling let the visitors in and it took a good try from Stuart Young to bolster Tyldesley who went in at the break 22-8 down.

However, a double injury blow saw Tyldesley loose Second Rower Jamie Parker and Winger Young both with head injuries and Calder Vale exploited the extra man to full effect in the Second half.
