A FUND-RAISING night in memory of two young men from Darwen who both died from heart attacks will be held at the weekend.
The CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) charity night in memory of Neil Wickers and David Staff is at Darwen Catholic Club on November 17 at 8pm.
Keyboard player and singer Mick Kelly is providing the entertainment and there will also be a mock auction for a signed Blackburn Rovers football as well as a light supper and raffle.
Bill and Irene Wickers, of Cyprus Street, and Susan and Granville Staff, of Carus Avenue, Hoddlesden, started raising funds and awareness about heart problems after losing their sons in similar circumstances.
Neil, 31, a financial adviser of St Alban's Road, collapsed at the Albion Mill, Blackburn, in August 1996, and former Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School pupil David, 17, died in December 1994 after collapsing near the end of a 10k road race at Clitheroe.
The families have raised £13,000 which has helped secure a mobile ECG unit.
