A FORMER smoker who was struck down with cancer announced that he was suing two tobacco companies for more than £50,000.
The man, from Mellor, issued writs blaming Imperial Tobacco and Gallagher for his illness.
He claimed there were no warnings on the packets when he first began smoking in 1958.
