AN 81-year-old pedestrian is critically ill in hospital after being involved in a collision while crossing the road in Golborne.
The man, of Ash Grove, Golborne, was crossing High Street using a pelican crossing at midday on Monday, when he was involved in a collision with a mini bus driven by a 37-year-old man from Great Sankey.
The pedestrian was taken to Wigan Royal Infirmary suffering from serious head and body injuries. He is still receiving treatment and his condition is described as "critical".
Police are appealing for witnesses to call the Wigan Police Traffic Unit on 0161 856 7273/2 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
