A FUND-RAISING campaign in memory of loved ones who have died has been launched following the success of a similar appeal last year.
The "Light up a Life" campaign was introduced last year by the East Lancashire Hospice at Blackburn Cathedral. For a gift to the hospice, lights on a Christmas tree can be dedicated to someone who has died or a special person.
East Lancashire Hospice fund-raiser Stuart Andrew said the appeal realised more than £2,000 last year -- and hoped it would be bigger and better this time round.
He said: "We are hoping to double that figure this year. The appeal is an important part in our fund-raising. We need to raise in excess of £300,000 a year to run our services for terminally ill patients, which is no easy task for a small local charity such as ours."
People wishing to nominate loved ones can fill out the form on this page and take it to Blackburn Cathedral.
Stuart added: "It can be a for a love one who has passed away or somebody who you feel deserves a dedication. All the names will also be entered in our Light up a Life book and will be read out at a special service at the Cathedral on December 12." All monies will go towards running expenses for East Lancashire Hospice.
