THREE little maids from school are they! Thornton Cleveleys Operatic Society take to the stage of Fleetwood's Marine Hall for a production of The Mikado.
The Mikado was the society's first ever production in 1938 after forming in 1936 and to celebrate 65 years of entertaining the company will perform it again as an anniversary production.
The Mikado, Gilbert and Sullivan's most popular comic opera, is set in the Japanese town of Titipu.
The Mikado's son, Nanki-Poo, has run away from his father's court to avoid marrying the elderly Katisha.
He has fallen in love with a young beauty, Yum-Yum, who is already engaged to her guardian, Ko-Ko the tailor.
When Nanki-Poo hears that his rival has been condemned to death he rushes to claim his bride but finds that Ko-Ko is not only still alive but has been appointed Lord High Executioner...
The famous musical score includes well-known classics Tit Willow, Three Little Maids From School and I've Got A Little List.
Society president Ralph Duxbury played the part of Pish-Tush in the company's original 1938 production. He would love to hear from others who were involved in those performances.
The show takes place from November 20 to 24 and tickets, priced £5 to £6, are available on (01253) 860856, from the Marine Hall office on 770547, or from Cleveleys Tourist Information Centre.
