FEW players have ever worn the red of Liverpool with greater passion than Graeme Souness.
But midfield dynamo Steven Gerrard must come mighty close after some all-action displays in the Anfield engine room over the last 12 months.
Aside from Roy Keane and Patrick Vieira, Gerrard is undoubtedly one of the most complete midfield players in the Premiership at present.
And not only does he represent the cornerstone of Gerard Houllier's revolution on Merseyside, but he also holds the key to England's World Cup hopes in Japan next summer, too.
Naturally aggressive in the tackle like Souness, the 21-year-old is also blessed with a phenomenal engine which enables him to get from box-to-box like all the true masters of his craft.
But he's not just an athlete, he also possesses a fantastic range of passing as well as an eye for goal -- particularly from distance.
It's therefore vital for Rovers that Garry Flitcroft wins his fitness battle.
With Liverpool possessing so much attacking talent, it's vital Flitcroft and Co cut the supply off at it's source.
