FOR the first ten minutes, Lytham's defence was stretched almost to breaking point until a really good passing movement out of defence and through mid-field gave Ann Preston the chance to put her side in the lead with a well-taken goal.
They then continued to pressurise the Preston defence with several good runs by Amy Leach and Gemma Noon, leading eventually to Lian Atkinson slotting home the second goal. Gillie Cooper was a power of strength in mid-field and, although the score remained at 2-0 throughout the second half with goalkeeper Nicky Baguley making some superb saves, Lytham deserved the win that keeps them in pole position in the league.
