THE Rose & Crown FC of Ramsbottom, currently flying high in Division Four of the Bury and District Sunday League, are set to appear on TV this Sunday on Granada's Team of the Week - the main football showcase for all amateurs across the North West.

The team took on Rochdale Deaf on a junior-sized pitch riddled with divots and muddy puddles, however their footballing prowess was to prevail as they romped through to victory, emerging as 8-1 winners.

Most improved player, Andy Hitchen proved inspirational to his side's performance setting up two goals, one of which was a superbly struck half-volley from striker Mike Ormerod.

Man of the Match, Oliver Hamer capped a fine display in the centre of midfield with two goals. The pick of the two being a bullet header from twenty yards out!

Captain, Alex Kirkley turned from hero to villain as he spurned the opportunity to grab his hat-trick from the penalty spot.

His two earlier goals saw a powerful free kick completely fool the keeper and his second hit the back of the net after he held off three players completing a fine mazy dribble.

Ste Walker, Ste Hudson and Chris Gaffey rounded off the scoring for the Rose and Crown leaving Manager Les Walker ecstatic that his team had performed well before the cameras.

"All I ask for is that we play great football and we certainly served up a hot goal feast for the viewers to savour!"

After the teams resounding win, sponsors Gascoigne Property Services announced that a new kit deal would go ahead, which would include socks and shorts and not just shirts.

The game is to be screened this Sunday on Granada Soccer Sunday at 5.30pm.
