WATERFOOT has its very own 'zoo' and special needs children from all over the North West love it!
The Horse and Bamboo Centre, in Bacup Road, has opened an unusual and unique zoo for its latest production The Magnificent Mountain Menagerie.
A multi-sense environment has been created at the Horse and Bamboo Centre, home to the Horse and Bamboo Theatre Company, and a zoo based area has been created which includes the smells of the wild!
The idea is to stimulate the senses of students who visit the centre, many of whom have profound difficulties, and generate responses.responses.
The project has been run every other year since the 1980's, and has gained national and international acclaim for its work in the field of visual interactive theatre.
It costs about £50,000 to run, but funding from North West Arts Board, Lancashire County Council and Rossendale Council has ensured its success.
Additional funding had also been sought from other charities, trusts and organisations.
If you would like to visit the zoo call at the centre on November 24 and 25 between 2 and 4pm.
