DARWEN'S Gary Thompson produced an impressive display to win the second fight of his professional career at Preston's Guild Hall last night.

Thompson triumphed on points over the experienced Adam Cale of Worcester in a bruising encounter of six two minute rounds.

The 20-year-old cruiserweight, is trained by his father Gary along with Bert Myers, who was in charge of former British champion Carl Crook of Chorley.

Thompson bounced back from a defeat on his debut against hometown boy Michael Thompson from Newcastle on the undercard of the Audley Harrison bill last month.

Accrington's Colin McCash was forced to pull out of his middleweight clash with Wrexham's Martyn Bailey at the last minute after picking up an injury during sparring yesterday, much to the disappointment of his travelling fans.
