I WOULD like to thank you for the excellent amount of £68.30 collected from the Royal National Institute for the Blind 'Sooty Box' at the reception desk at the Lancashire Evening Telegraph in Blackburn. The box contained a £50 note, donated anonymously by somebody who had visited your office and was welcomed by everybody at RNIB as a very generous gesture.
RNIB relies heavily on its Sooty box income and the amount raised by Sooty boxes in Lancashire last year was £32,000 which goes a long way to helping support some of the services that we provide for blind and visually impaired children and adults from the North West, such as the Century Hotel in Blackpool and RNIB famous Talking Book Service, of which Lancashire has the second highest membership in the UK.
