hLEIGH RMI are hoping neighbours Bolton Wanderers and Manchester City will come to their rescue.
The cash-strapped Conference outfit has warned its players they will have their wages cut if the club cannot generate extra income. Officials feel that drastic step could be averted with a little help from their neighbouring football giants.
Vice-chairman Alan Leach said they were in the process of contacting the two clubs with a view to them arranging friendly games.
"Kevin Keegan remembers us from when he was in charge at Fulham and we played them in the FA Cup," said Mr Leach. "He has said that he will try and sort something out in the next couple of weeks. That will be a magnificent gesture and we are asking Wanderers if they will do the same.
"Those games could be the key to saving the club.
"This would provide a lifeline and help us keep our players. It has been encouraging behind the scenes as many people have come forward to help us out."
