NELSON recorded their first NWCL Division Two victory since mid-September thanks to a Barry White penalty after eight minutes and a workmanlike team performance.
The Blues got off to a bright start when Lee Coldridge made a solo run into the Holker penalty area and was unceremoniously brought down, giving White a chance to convert the spot kick and put Nelson 1-0 ahead.
The midfield battle mainly went in Nelson's favour, but Holker gave them a sharp reminder on the half hour when Graeme Foster beat Mark Canning with a shot that came back off the Blues crossbar.
Nelson should have gone further ahead just before half time when Jonathan Irvine had a clear chance but keeper Darren Hoyland made a good save to turn his shot round the post.
Canning made an acrobatic save to keep out a shot from Rob Coulter after 63 minutes, but Nelson enjoyed most of the attacking play in the second half.
They might easily have added more goals with some better finishing and greater awareness of team mates in a better shooting position.
