YOUNGSTERS campaigning for their own wheelie park in Barnoldswick have been gathering tips from similar parks in nearby local towns -- 10 members of Barnoldswick's Wheelie Challenge group, accompanied by chairman John Staveley and local councillors Jackie Taylforth, Doris Haigh and David Whipp, visited Skipton, Sough and Accrington.
The group, which hopes to create a wheel park area in Victory Park, has raised almost £700 towards the project and West Craven's Area Committee and Pendle's Community Safety Partnership have each pledged £5,000 for the scheme.
Group secretary Jackie Taylforth said: "The lads tried out the ramps to see what sort would be best for Barnoldswick."
At a meeting of Barnoldswick Town Council's Community Affairs Committee, David Whipp proposed that the Town Council should also contribute £5,000. Depending on the equipment chosen, the wheel park could cost up to £50,000.
