RAMSBOTTOM took time to settle but eventually ran out comfortable winners at NWCL Division One side Warrington.

The Rams took the lead on 16 minutes when Steve Orrell fired home after Brad Franks won the ball in the air from David Yorke-Robinson's corner.

On the half hour both sides were reduced to ten men when Warrington defender Lee Webster floored Phil Porter with an x-rated tackle, Webster then appeared to punch Steve Orrell and was red carded -- Orrell was also sent off.

Jamie Taylor was now Ramsbottom's lone striker and on 40 minutes he latched on to Stephen Sheil's through ball and scored with a precise finish into the bottom corner of the Warrington net.

In the final minute of the half Aidan Warden pulled a goal back for the home side after some questionable defending by Ramsbottom.

With the second half just four minutes old the Rams restored their two goal lead when Yorke-Robinson scored with a superb header from Porter's free kick.

Yorke then had the ball in the net again as he finished off a fine four man move but the goal was ruled out with the midfielder having strayed a yard offside.

United played some excellent patient football that contrasted with Warrington's direct approach and as the second half reached its concluding minutes the Rams continued to control the game.

In the final five minutes Fairbrother made an exceptional stop from a free kick that took a deflection off a Ramsbottom defender. Franks came close to a fourth goal when he broke half the length of the field only to pull his final shot wide of the far post but in the end the Rams fully deserved their victory which completes a double over the Cheshire side.
