TWO men tried to drag a terrified woman into a car at Pilsworth.
But their victim broke free and sprinted to a nearby pub for help.
Police say that the 25-yearold had just left the Megabowl complex at Pilsworth on Friday night (Nov 16) to walk home.
She saw two cars, a blue Vauxhall Nova and a white Vauxhall Astra, parked nearby with their engines running.
Detective Sergeant Duncan Heywood of Bury police said: "As she was walking, someone shouted to her and asked if she wanted a lift.
"She refused. Then, two Asian males came out of the back of the Astra. One grabbed her arm and tried to drag her towards the vehicles.
"She was able to pull away and ran to the nearby Roach Bank Inn where she asked for help." She was later taken home by someone from the pub.
Det Sgt Heywood stressed: "We are treating this as a serious incident. She was very frightened."
One of the attackers is described as 5ft 10in, aged 23, slim build and wearing dark trousers and a dark jumper.
Anyone with information about the attempted abduction, which happened at 8.15pm on Friday, is asked to ring Detective Sergeant Lynne Vernon at Whitefield CID on 856 8248.
