ACADEMY starlet Jerome Watt again took centre stage for Rob Kelly's Under 17s after firing an impressive two-goal salvo in their 3-1 win over Everton at the weekend.
Watt has chipped in with some vital goals already this season which has earned him a call-up to reserves.
And he added to that tally with another deadly brace against the Toffees as Rovers bounced back from last week's reverse at the hands of Manchester City.
The England Under 17 international expertly tucked away a penalty and then followed that up with a fabulous individual goal.
Peter Carvino was the other player on target as Kelly's young guns completed an excellent day's work.
And the Under 19s then wrapped up an impressive double by winning their game 1-0 courtesy of a late Alan Morgan free kick.
"They were two good results because we always have tough games against Everton," said Academy chief Bobby Downes.
"They're always well organised and fiercely competitive so we came out of the games nursing a few bumps and bruises."
Meanwhile, top French coach Andre Merrelle dropped in at Brockhall at the weekend to give Rovers' staff the benefit of his vast experience.
Merrelle, the man in charge of the French National Academy, watched Rovers two academy teams in action against Everton on Saturday morning before then holding a special coaching session as part of an in-service day on Sunday.
The idea was the brainchild of Downes, who recently made a trip to France to watch Merelle in action at the mecca of youth team football, Clairefontaine.
"He did some coaching in the morning and then a question and answer session in the afternoon and I'm sure all our coaches are all the richer for the experience," said Downes.
