A CLITHEROE cyclist who suffered serious head injuries after being involved in a road accident in the town has died.
William Lakin, 54, of Whitewell Drive, was injured when his bike was in collision with a van at the junction of New Lane and Chipping Road, near the Edisford Bridge pub, at 3.20pm on November 9.
He suffered serious head and abdominal injuries and was taken to Blackburn Royal Infirmary for emergency surgery before being transferred to Hope Hospital, Salford.
Police say the white VW tipper van and the cyclist were travelling in opposite directions and are appealing for witnesses to the accident.
The driver of the van, Steven Cowgill, 39, of Kirkmoor Road, Clitheroe, was shaken after the accident.
Mr Lakin leaves his widow, Kathleen, and two children.
An inquest is being arranged.
