A COUNCIL is looking for volunteers to help with planting during National Tree Week, which starts tomorrow.
Blackburn with Darwen's Countryside Services will be planting hundreds of tree saplings with the help of local volunteers.
Volunteers are needed for the next two Sundays November and Sunday 2nd December at Witton Country Park.
"It is heart-warming that every year volunteers don their wellies and get stuck in!" said Nick Wyatt, Witton Park and Countryside Services Manager. "As an incentive the first 50 volunteers receive a free National Tree Week T- shirt."
Anyone interested in taking part should contact the Countryside Services Office on 01254 691239.
Countryside Services has also organised a Tree Week Artwork Competition for local children and a free guided walk on Sunday, December 2, around Corporation Park to look at the trees at 2pm.
For details on any of the National Tree Week activities please contact Nick on 01254 691239.
