GREAT Harwood lost their ninth NWCL Division One game on the trot after they slipped to a home loss against high flying Salford City.

Boss Denis Underwood had hoped that his side could take something from this game following an improved performance in their loss to Kidsgrove on Saturday.

They continued to play well - but big spending Salford proved too much for Harwood.

And Underwood will now be desperate to make sure his side, fifth from bottom, get something out of their game against lower placed Nantwich on Saturday.

"We played well and had a couple of chances through Graham Lightbown and Adam Tempest but they scored on their first meaningful attack and then we went ragged," said the boss.

Salford scored on the half hour when keeper Daryl Sloane saved a point blank header but could do nothing about the rebound. The visitors scored through a penalty after the interval.

"We came out all guns blazing after the break but they got what I consider a lucky penalty.

"We still had chances after that through Shaun Bursnell and Graham Lightbown but we just couldn't capitalise.

"Their keeper gave us a couple of chances but we just didn't take them.

"Now it is a must-win game on Saturday but if we play like we did last night and get a lucky break, then we should get a result."
