BURY FC soccer mascot Robbie the Bobby was given the red card again last night -- for being "stupid."

The policeman mascot was dismissed -- for the third time this season-- during the Division Two clash with Bristol City by referee Mike Dean for celebrating when Bury scored an equaliser just before half time.

As striker Jon Newby's penalty hit the back of net, Robbie ran 30 yards past the manager's dugout and belly-flopped onto the floor.

He then turned and did his now famous "moon" at the visiting supporters -- and was then told to go for encroaching in the technical area.

When asked why Robbie had received his marching orders, the official responded: "Because he was being stupid."

The Shakers mascot -- named after Robert Peel, founder of the police force -- is making quite a name for himself and has featured on TV shows around the world for his bad behaviour, including America's CNN.

His first sending off came against Stoke when he incited the 2,000 away fans by mooning at them. Then, a fortnight ago, he was ejected from the ground for brawling with the Cardiff City mascot Barclay the Bluebird.

The mascots exchanged blows near the corner flag minutes after the start of the second half. They then began trading punches and, as the match continued, even fought on the ground.

Eight stewards raced on to the pitch to break up the fight and both mascots were escorted off the pitch.

Robbie also got into hot water last month for ripping the ears off Peterborough's rabbit mascot.

Jonathan Pollard, the man inside the Robbie costume, said: "I want to be the daddy of all mascots."

BEN sports reporter Steve Canavan, who was at the match, said: "Robbie is starting to become a bit of a cult figure.

"He is promising to become the star mascot in all the leagues and has built up a real reputation.

"The crowd were all chanting his name and he was loving it. No one knows what he is going to do next but you can always rely on him to do something.

"When Bury scored he went a little bit berserk and got a bit carried away but it was no worse than normal. I was a bit surprised when he got his marching orders."
