THE owner of a controversial Blackburn nightclub was tonight set to go before licensing chiefs to explain how he was going to overcome noise nuisance problems which have besieged residents.
Scott Moon, who runs Cubes in Duke Street, was given a month by Blackburn with Darwen Council's licensing committee to draw up plans to combat loud disco music Clubescaping from his venue.
Neighbours had complained that the noise from the club regularly keeps them up until 2am.
Mr Moon had offered to put double glazing in homes affected and install a noise regulator, but councillors said only sound-proofing the venue would do.
If councillors opt not to renew his licence, Mr Moon's club will no longer be able to operate as a nightclub.
He has written to the council to explain how he plans to solve the problems and his proposals will be discussed in private.
Residents will also be invited to give their views on the noise problems.
Mr Moon first appeared before the committee in June and was given three months to improve the situation. Neighbours told the last meeting in October that things had got worse.
Mr Moon has also submitted plans to rebuild Cubes as an 800-capacity venue, more than double that of the existing club.
