BURY boss Andy Preece was furious with his side as they squandered the chance to win, conceding a sloppy goal in the final moments for the second successive match.
A mistake by Mickey Nelson sold keeper Paddy Kenny short and Lee Peacock converted the resultant penalty to earn the visitors a point they barely deserved.
Bury had played a good deal of attractive football, Burnley's Gareth Seddon was unlucky to have an effort disallowed, and it was from the restart that City took the lead through Peacock following good work from Scott Murray.
Just seconds later Bury might have gone two down when an over fussy referee awarded a penalty against Danny Swailes for handball, but Kenny splendidly saved Tony Thorpe's spot kick.
Bury themselves had a penalty which Jon Newby converted to equalise before man of the match Harpal Singh - who is expected to extend his loan deal from Leeds to the end of the season - scored a spendid solo effort to give the Shakers a deserved lead.
Bury looked comfortable despite much City pressure and appeared to have three points in the bag until Nelsons' last minute blunder.
Preece fumed: "I am furious, thats two games in a couple of days which we have drawn which we should have won. We defend okay until the last couple of minutes and then switch off.
"It is nothing to do with youth or inexperience, all he has to do is head it away, into touch, over the stand, anywhere.
"I am gutted for the lads, but we cannot go on conceding goals like that. Its two points lost which we will have to make up elsewhere and it won't be easy."
