AN inquest has been opened into the death of a 54-year-old Clitheroe cyclist who died in the intensive care unit at Hope Hospital, Manchester, ten days after he was involved in a road accident.
William Lakin, of Whitewell Drive, suffered serious head inuries when his bike was in collision with a van at the junction of New Lane and Chipping Road near the Edisford Bridge pub at 3.20pm on Novembner 9.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident which involved a white VW tipper van driven by Steven Cowgill, 39, of Kirkmoor Road, Clitheroe.
The inquest into Mr Lakin's death was adjourned until February 20.
