CLARETS YOUTH...1
WIGAN...4
CLARETS youth team suffered a rare reverse yesterday afternoon when they were beaten 4-1 by Wigan at Gawthorpe.
"That is the first time this season that we have been very poor," admitted manager Terry Pashley.
"The pitch didn't help, it was atrocious, but that is no excuse. We made too many poor individual errors."
Pashley put out a strong looking side despite the absence of big defender Earl Davis.
He also rested Andrew Leeson and Mark Rasmussen but insisted: "We had a good enough side, we just didn't play well.
"We went 3-0 down, got a goal back and then conceded a fourth. It was not a good day."
The young players will be looking for a better display on Saturday when they travel to Bury for another Youth Alliance League game.
That match is followed by Monday night's clash with Tranmere in the Lancashire Youth Cup at Turf Moor, kick off at 7.15pm.
