MEMBERS of Darwen's Lodgeside Trust clubbed together to help raise money for the New York firefighters fund.
On Tuesday members of the community trust, based in Water Street, handed over a £50 cheque to Darwen fire station sub-officer Phil Whitaker.
On hand to present the money were Tracy Turnbull, trust vice-chairman, and Hilary Corran, trust committee member, who were joined by firefighter Paul Swarbrick.
The charity cash will go towards helping the victims of September 11.
Tracy Turnbull, Lodgeside Trust vice chairperson, said: "The fire station have helped us at our galas a couple of times, so we wanted to do something in return.
"We had a gala in September, and the money we raised for the fund came from the proceeds from that."
