A PENSIONER woke to discover a man in her bedroom who told her: "I'm here to steal something."
Now, police are hunting the burglar, who broke into the 78-year-old partially sighted woman's ground-floor flat at sheltered accommodation in Waverley Place, Radcliffe.
After being woken by a noise, the woman, who walks with the aid of a frame, confronted the man in her bedroom.
He grabbed a purse from a bag, which was attached to the frame, and left with about £5, at 9pm on Friday.
He is described as being 6ft tall, and of slim build.
Detective Sergeant Duncan Heywood, of Bury police, said: "This man preyed on a very vulnerable and elderly woman."
Anyone with information is asked to ring Whitefield CID on 856 8248.
